Joy and Blessing Academy is a primary and secondary school near the village of Gbeo in the North East Region of Ghana.
JABA's mission is "To bring education and the knowledge of God to the children of Gbeo".

Goals

With any endeavor, it is important to start with the end in mind. Below are the key results we are looking for for each JABA student:

Each student experiences the love of Christ modeled by Christian staff. Each student should be capable and prepared to enter any Ghana secondary school

The Student's Journey

Ghana offers free and mandatory schooling for children from the ages 4 to 14. JABA was established for students and families who are unable or unwilling to attend Ghana state schools. As a primary (basic) school, JABA will lay a foundational education which can be used to enter secondary school, or simply enrich the student’s life by enabling them to read, write, and speak English, do arithmetic, and other skills useful for thriving in Ghana.

Beginning

  • English (Vocabulary, Conversational, Fluency)
  • Letters and their sounds (phonetics)
  • Numbers, counting, addition and subtraction
  • Socio-cultural interactive skills (knowing what to say to whom, how to say it and when to say it)
  • Arts, Crafts, Music
  • Bible Stories (from R.M.E. Syllabus)

Middle

  • Arithmetic (multiplication, division, geometry)
  • Physical Science
  • Local Tribal Languages (including Fulfulde)
  • Ghanain History (Local Tribes, all major Ghana Tribes, and Fulani)
  • More Bible (from R.M.E. Syllabus)

End

  • Biology & Agriculture
  • World Geography
  • Technology (with any commonly available tech, ie, phones, electricity basics, etc)
  • Multi-cultural studies - Fullani, Mamprusi, and other Ghanain festivals, and practices
